DAY 2 Thursday, December 28, 2017 – Delhi

  • Arrive Delhi, the capital of India for over a thousand years and a unique city that exhibits a blend of modern India and ancient Indian traditions.
  • Clear Indian Immigration and Customs.
  • Meet your Tour Guide outside baggage claim.
  • Transfer to your motor coach.
  • Check-in to the Africa Avenue Hotel (or similar) for your two night stay in Delhi.
  • Dinner may be provided, depending on the arrival time of your flight.
  • Overnight Delhi.

DAY 3 Friday, December 29, 2017 – Delhi

  • Breakfast at your hotel.
  • Enjoy a full day guided tour of Delhi. Begin with the Old City of ‘Shahjahanabad’, founded by the great Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. Tour Raj Ghat, the cremation site of Mahatma Gandhi. Drive past the Red Fort, a magical monument in red sandstone, built at the pinnacle of the Mogul empire. Visit the bustling streets around Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in Asia built by Shahjahan. Visit the Qutab Minar, the tallest stone tower in India built to establish the might of Islam and onset of Muslim rule in India and Humayun’s tomb, the first great example of a new distinctive style, which became the hallmark of the Mughal Dynasty. See the imposing India Gate (War Memorial Arch), a monument dedicated to the soldiers who lost their lives during World War I, the Parliament building, and the Rashtrapathi Bhawan (the President’s residence). A stop for lunch will be included on this tour.

DAY 4 Saturday, December 30, 2017 – Delhi/Agra

  • Breakfast at your hotel and check-out.
  • Depart Delhi by motorcoach in the early morning.
  • Arrive in Agra by the early afternoon and check-in to your hotel, the Howard Park Plaza (or similar) for your overnight stay in Agra.
  • Enjoy guided tour of Agra. Tour the spectacular Taj Mahal. Considered to be one of the wonders of the world, the Taj Mahal, a symphony in white marble, a tribute to eternal love, it was built by the Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. Visit the perfectly proportioned marble mausoleum Itmad-ud-Daulah. Built by Empress Noor Jahan, the wife of Jehangir in memory of her father Mirza Ghiyas Beg. Tour the Great Fort of Agra. The fort is an outstanding example of Mughal architecture and the seat and stronghold of the Mughal Empire under successive generations. Lunch is not included on this tour.

DAY 7 Tuesday, January 2, 2018 – Mumbai

  • This morning, begin a guided tour of Mumbai. Take a photo stop at the Gateway of India, which was built to commemorate the visit of King George V in 1911. See the bustling business districts of South Mumbai and its famous landmarks—the Victoria Terminus, Mumbai University, Rajabai Clock Tower, High Court, and the Queen’s Necklace. Visit the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahaya, formerly the Prince of Wales Museum, which boasts a significant collection of Indus valley artifacts, some of them dating back more than 5000 years. See the Hanging Gardens and Parsi Tower of Silence. Take a photo-stop at the largest open-air laundry—Dhobi Ghat, which is still popular with citizens despite the advent of the washing machine! Visit the Mani Bhawan, the former residence of the Father of India, Mahatma Ghandi, which serves as a museum today. Lunch is not included on this tour.

See the Chinese Fishing Nets, St. Francis Church, and Mattancherry Palace built by the Portuguese for the Raja (King) of Kochi in exchange for trading rights.  Walk through the narrow cobbled streets, lined with antique shops and artisan boutiques of the Jewish District to the Jewish Synagogue, the oldest operating synagogue in the world. DAY 12 Sunday, January 7, 2018 – Kochi/Alleppey

  • Board your houseboat for your overnight journey into the countryside. A comfortable air-conditioned cabin is available for each participant. Your cruise will explore the picturesque waterways, revealing boats carrying loads of coir, copra, cashews, numerous churches, and marketplaces along the water’s edge. Lunch and an authentic Keralan dinner will be served aboard.

DAY 13 Monday, January 8, 2018 – Alleppey/Kochi
